Snake River Boat Ramp Design and Permitting, Teton County, Wyoming
Biota was hired to assist with the design and facilitate Section 404 permitting for a proposed boat ramp, cove/backwater swimming pond, site infrastructure, and attendant features on the Snake River in Teton County, Wyoming. Biota delineated wetlands; performed geomorphologic and hydrologic analyses; designed a rock barb to stabilize the river bank and reduce near-bank flow velocity; completed hydraulic analyses to inform design of boat ramp elevation and slopes; designed a bioengineered wetland restoration project; obtained authorization through the Clean Water Act; and developed and implemented a compensatory wetland mitigation plan for the project.
Regulatory Compliance for Clean Water Act Violation, Custer County, South Dakota
Biota was retained by a private landowner to correct outstanding Clean Water Act violations and achieve regulatory compliance for flood control, bank stabilization, and waterway modification on a creek in western South Dakota. Biota’s work included: coordination with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE); initial site assessment; wetland delineation; geomorphic survey; impact assessment; development of a passive restoration plan; and specification of a detailed monitoring plan per Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) guidelines. Biota was recommended to the landowner by the EPA due to our existing relationship with EPA regulatory personnel and the quality of our work products.
Regulatory Compliance for Clean Water Act Violation, Uinta County, Wyoming
Biota was hired by Uinta County to correct outstanding Clean Water Act violations and achieve regulatory compliance for what the client viewed as emergency flood control work and waterway modification on the Smiths Fork River near Mountain View, WY. Biota’s work included: coordination with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE); initial site assessment; wetland delineation; geomorphic survey; impact assessment; development of a restoration and flood hazard reduction plan; construction supervision; and compilation of a monitoring program in accordance with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) guidelines.
Wetland Mitigation and Roadway Permitting, Teton County, Wyoming
Biota was hired to facilitate Section 404 permitting and local regulatory compliance for a road realignment project north of Jackson, Wyoming. Biota delineated wetlands; obtained a Nationwide 14 permit for proposed wetland impacts; and developed and implemented a wetland mitigation plan to meet Teton County requirements for the project.
Owl Creek Section 404 Compliance, Teton County, Wyoming
Biota was hired to facilitate Section 404 compliance for wetland impacts associated with realignment of a reach of Owl Creek. The project was permitted under a Nationwide 27 permit for aquatic habitat enhancement and approximately 10,000 square feet of floodplain wetlands were created.
