Biota emphasizes the re-establishment of natural processes that sustain dynamic and productive stream ecosystems and associated still water habitats. We work closely with our clients and state fish and wildlife agencies in order to establish and maintain healthy and productive fisheries.
Biota has completed numerous fish habitat enhancements for both private landowners and public agencies. Projects have ranged from the creation of simple trout spawning beds to several miles of channel reconfiguration with pool and riffle complexes, structural enhancements, establishment of habitat for specific age-classes of trout, and riparian re-vegetation.

Biota has decades of experience with the many steps necessary to make fisheries projects successful, from the initial permitting process to long-term monitoring of completed projects. Our expertise includes hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, macro-invertebrate inventories, fish passage assessments, aquatic ecology investigations, and limiting factors analysis. Our staff includes Fisheries Professionals certified by the American Fisheries Society, and our multi-disciplinary team of hydrologists, fluvial geomorphologists, ecologists, and engineers incorporate our angling expertise to create optimal fishing opportunities for our clients.
